Permits and Registrations


Many aspects of our permit and inspection process are regulated by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation . Their regulatory authority is spelled out in the Texas Occupations Code which can be accessed through this search engine .


The State requires individuals employed as A/C Technicians, Plumbers and Electricians by licensed and that contractors in those fields be licensed and insured. The City of Hico does recognize provisions within state law which allows an homeowner occupying his homestead to work on the HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems in that homestead without having the required licenses. A notarized affidavit of ownership and occupancy must be filed and the work must still be permitted and inspected.
